Many studies support the theory that sufficient water intake is beneficial for weight loss. Moreover, hydration is essential to so many other body functions, such as digestion and muscle function.
Getting enough water into your body throughout the day aids the release of toxins from your body and helps to keep your skin healthy and supple.
Five ways of how water intake affects your weight loss
1. Workouts as an appetite suppressant. Drinking a glass of water before your meal can help you to feel more satisfied and eat less.
When the stomach senses that it is full, it sends signals to the brain to stop eating. Water can help to take up space in the stomach, leading to a feeling of fullness and reducing hunger.
A person may also think that they are hungry when they are thirsty. Drinking a glass of water before reaching for something to eat can help to curb unnecessary snacking.
2. Increases calorie burning. Drinking enough water can boost your metabolism, helping you burn off calories more effectively and reduce water retention in the abdomen area. Goodbye, bloated tummy!.
They burned between 2 and 3 percent more calories than usual in the 90 minutes after drinking the water.
Water may also temporarily increase the body’s resting energy expenditure, or the number of calories burned while resting.
Drinking cold water may further enhance water’s calorie-burning benefits, because the body expends energy, or calories, by heating the water for digestion.
3. Water removes toxins from the body. Water helps to flush toxins from your body by supporting normal kidney functions.
When the body is dehydrated, it cannot correctly remove waste as urine or feces.
Water helps the kidneys to filter toxins and waste while the organ retains essential nutrients and electrolytes. When the body is dehydrated, the kidneys retain fluid.
When waste builds up in the body, people may feel bloated, swollen, and tired. Bloating can add inches to a person’s waist.
Staying hydrated is an excellent way to avoid retaining waste, which may add a few extra pounds.
4. It improves skin condition. Increased water intake can improve the appearance of your belly. Waters helps the skin to be more elastic. Skin that maintains elasticity can return to its previous shape.
5. Water helps in workouts.
One of the essential components of any weight loss plan is exercise.
Water helps muscles, connective tissues, and joints to move correctly. It also helps the lungs, heart, and other organs to work effectively as they ramp up activity during exercise.
Being hydrated reduces the risk of things that can get in the way of a good workout, such as muscle cramps and fatigue.
Always drink water before, during, and after exercise to avoid dehydration.
Keeping water close at hand is essential, especially if exercising in hot, humid, or very sunny conditions
How much water should you drink a day to lose weight?
Most people are not drinking enough water during the day. The general rule of thumb is drinking at least eight glasses (8fl oz) of water a day by 8 p.m., also known as the 8×8 rule.
However, whether this particular water intake is enough for weight loss has been debated for quite some time.
Dr. Amy Lee, chief medical officer of a prestigious Southern California weight loss center, recommends a simple rule:
“You should drink half of your body weight in ounces. “If you weigh 72 kilos, you should drink 2.4 liters of water”

This amount also depends on how active you are and how much water your body loses throughout the day.
Quality of water matters
Tap water or bottled water?
Which one is better for your body and weight loss? Although both tap and bottled water safety are tested, there are a few downsides to both of them.
Tap water is tested even more frequently than bottled water. Hence it is considered to be safer. It can sometimes have an odd taste, but that does not necessarily mean that it is unhealthy or contaminated. Strange feelings can be a result of chlorination or mineral content.
What about bottled water?
Well, bottled water is, unfortunately, not typically safer than tap water. Recent studies show that bottled water samples can contain phthalates, mold, microbes, benzene, trihalomethanes, even arsenic. And although most producers claim their bottles are BPA-free, other toxins can seep out if containers are exposed to heat or sit for a long time.
Purify your regular tap water naturally
Ever heard of Shungite water?
Shungite is a unique, healing mineral that comes from the only place on Earth – Karelia in Russia. It contains fullerenes – a particular form of carbon considered to be the most potent antioxidant capable of shielding cells from free radicals.
With Shungite stones, you can turn your regular tap water into perfectly clean and healthy water that is pack with antioxidants and minerals.
Shungite water is biologically active water with antibacterial and antioxidant effects. It perfectly hydrates the whole body, washes away allergens and strengthens immunity system.
Many studies show Shungite is capable of removing harmful substances from drinking water, such as chlorine, heavy metals, pesticides, phenol, and dioxins.
How to use Shungite water filter
Making Shungite water is very simple. All you need is (Shungite stones/chips,) a pitcher or a jar, and tap water.
Place the stones into the jar, pour the drinking water over them, and leave it to stand. When placed in water, the fullerenes in Shungite attract and neutralize waterborne contaminants. Optimally saturated Shungite water is achieved within 1 – 24 hours.
Because Shungite stones are a natural material, you need to make sure they produce perfectly clean water each time, by cleaning them regularly.
Every two weeks, take the stones out of the jar and rinse them with boiling water thoroughly. Spread them over a clean baking sheet and let them dry in the oven (100C/212F) for 10 minutes or on direct sun.
If you exercise regularly, try drinking Shungite water after a workout to help revitalize fatigued muscles. Shungite water is also ideal to use when preparing formula or meals for your baby.
